The Green River Shooting Sports park is being developed to accommodate the needs of the general public for a first-class facility designed for the shooting sports. Some of the various disciplines that have been incorporated into the park are a 600 yard High-power rifle range which has already hosted several State Championships, and Civilian Marksmanship "Excellence in Competition" matches. It has a 100, 200, 300 and 600 yard bench rest, silhouette range, a twelve bay cowboy action range, five station trap and skeet range, and a pistol range. The small-bore rifle range is used by the Hunter Saftey Instructors, as well as the Highway Patrol for qualification events.
The range itself was a joint effort between the City of Green River, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Utah State Highway Patrol, United States Federal Aid Program, Utah National Guard, and most important of all, thousands of hours of hard work by local volunteers and contractors.
The main focus of the park is to educate young shooters through hunter safety programs and to encourage safe and responsible firearms use. The variety of shooting sports offered at the park will encourage young shooters to develop a lasting interest in the shooting sports.
The range is administered by the Green River Shooting Sports Park, INC, and will be open to the public for organized practice and competition.
The easiest access is to take I-70 East past Green River. Take the Green River town exit on the East side of the River. Turn North at the exit. You will proceed North approximately 1 mile. The road takes a gradual turn to the West. As you start this turn, assuming you are going North, there is an oil road going East. This is old highway US 50. Proceed East on this road for approximately 1/2 mile. The range is on the North side of this road.
